la FRONTERA
DEL VIENTO
From Madrid to the Basque Country in Spain, in France, and back. There are trips you plan with maps, guides, GPS. And then there are others you take with your gut, with your gaze, with that instinct that tells you to stop just when the light bends over a rusted guardrail or a crumbling house, that instinct that steals your breath and demands you take a photo. This trip, clearly, belongs to the latter.
October 2nd – October 6th, 2025

La Frontera del Viento isn’t just a physical route or a geographical border. It’s the line that separates what we expect from what we’ve yet to discover. A line we will cross together, to sharpen our vision, shake off the familiar, and see the world again with hunger.
This is a roadtrip for those who crave the unexpected, a journey that sharpens your instincts, invites you to slow down, and rewards your curiosity at every turn.
It’s a tribute to photography, to the dreamers, and the travelers who understand that magic lives in the unplanned stops, in the quiet light, in the faces you meet when you least expect it.We are looking for 7 photographers who feel the camera as an extension of their eyes, who long to explore roads that cross stories rather than cities, are you one of them?

// Five days. Two countries. Zero clichés. We roadtrip through the backroads of Spain and France, chasing wild light, raw beauty, and unexpected stories.
// Guided by Lucía & Roberto. Two photographers, educators, and co-creators of this experience. They’re here to challenge, support your photographic path, and inspire you.
// Just 7 spots. A small, intimate group built for shared process and open conversation.
// Boutique stays with personality, and great beds. Light filled, design forward, and deeply comfortable. The kind of places that make you reach for your camera and give you a good night’s rest.
// Mentoring that meets you where you are. We talk vision, voice, and storytelling, but also dive into technique, gear, and craft when needed. Whether you’re an amateur or a working pro, this trip adapts to you.
// Three group reviews. Honest, constructive, and designed to unlock what’s next in your work. Just meaningful critique to help you grow your photographic voice.
// The road is our studio. We follow light, instinct, and the unexpected, stopping for fog over a valley, cracked textures on a wall, or a stranger with a story. If something moves us, we stop. That’s the plan.
// A collective print journal, curated by Doublepage. A tangible memory of the work we made, and the journey that shaped it. We believe in photography on paper.
// A tribute to the road. Inspired by the spirit of Robert Frank, Walker Evans, Alec Soth and Wim Wenders: freedom, chance, and the poetry of the in-between.
// Designed by photographers for photographers. This is a handcrafted experience. Every route, stop, meal, and moment is chosen to create rhythm, surprise, and inspiration.
// This is your reset. 4 nights, 5 days, and 24 hours of ongoing photographic conversation -some of our travelers have said they even dream about photography during our trips ;)-. Deeply curated. Emotionally driven. Built for exploration, reflection, and transformation.
// ⚠️ Only 7 spots. Once it’s full, it’s full. Are you in?

OPEN INVITATION
Hi, Lucia here!
Five days and four nights to explore landscapes you won’t find on postcards but that will stay etched in your memory forever.
We’ll pass through Navarra, where the night gifts us stars and the day reveals a landscape that feels like another planet. We’ll cross the border into Les Landes, a region in southwest France where forests stretch all the way to the sea, dunes merge with the wind, and oysters are eaten facing the Atlantic. We’re always fascinated by the ways of life of the places we visit, here, they walk differently, moving in a certain way that is difficult to explain, it feels like your walking through characters from a movie.
From there, we’ll head to San Sebastián, where the north’s quiet elegance, soft light, refined architecture, and one of the most astonishing gastronomic scenes await us. Yes, we will experience it.
Then, Burgos. And there, we’ll share a special night: a final collective review, unhurried, with something to drink and a knot in our stomachs because emotions will be contradictory. An intimate moment, almost a ritual, a secret pact between those who went out to see and came back transformed.
Finally, we return to Madrid. But we won’t be the same.
TRAVEL. MOVE. GET LOST.
This is a journey into the unexpected. Not every stop is planned, because the trip writes itself in real time. But each night, a very special place awaits us. Our accommodations have been carefully handpicked with a photographer’s eye and a deep need for rest: spaces with personality, beautifully designed, full of light, offering special breakfasts and rich histories. Places I found on my own travels and now want to share with a small group of just seven photographers. Because we believe intimacy gives room to authenticity.
We didn’t choose the fastest routes, we chose roads that cross through stories to be told through a lens.
What’s includeD?
photography immersing Experience
We’ll travel slowly, cameras always within reach, ready to stop for fleeting light, unexpected encounters, and hidden textures that reveal themselves only to those who are truly paying attention. Conversation will revolve around the different aspects of the image, some of our travelers have said that they even dream about photography during our roadtrips!
Creative Community
Traveling with only 7 photographers creates the perfect space for genuine connection, deep conversation, and a shared creative process where every voice and vision can unfold freely.
Unforgettable Landscapes
From lunar valleys to endless pine forests and wild coastlines, you’ll experience a changing tapestry of landscapes that challenge your eye and fuel your creative instincts every single day.
Daily Photography Work
Engage in a camera-in-hand experience through the roads of northern Spain and south of France. You’ll receive continuous guidance and real-time feedback from the two photo mentors, with daily review sessions to refine your visual storytelling and to be able to immediately try new things the following day.
UNIQUE ACOMMODATIONS
We’ll stay in boutique hotels and eco-lodges full of personality, carefully chosen for their light, design, history, and their ability to offer true rest and inspiration along the way.
Final publication
Receive a copy of Wayfarer. A printed publication, one story built out of the resulting work of our 7 photographers during the trip. Curated and designed in-house by Doublepage.
You can find a full list of what’s included by requesting the information brochure at the bottom of this page
Meet the TeaM
Throughout the journey, Lucía and Roberto, two photographers, educators, and lovers of the road -and its photographic possibilities- will be accompanying each traveler’s process. We’re not here to teach a particular technique (even though we can support you there too), but to open questions, suggest exercises, and help each traveler uncover their own visual voice. Almost every night, we’ll review the work together, and at the end, we’ll create a collective edit to decide how the work will live on paper.
